Vision and Mission Statement

 Our School Vision

It is our vision, at St. Olcan’s Primary School, that we create an inclusive environment where:

Every child is cherished, every moment counts.

Mission Statement

Central to our vision in St Olcan’s P.S is a commitment to the Catholic ethos which underpins all aspects of school life. It reflects the values, attitudes, beliefs and practices of our Catholic Faith and recognises the value and self-worth of each child through the development of self-respect and understanding.   Through the promotion of mutual understanding and respect for all ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds, we seek to create an inclusive and supportive environment in which all members of our school community feel valued.

We aim to create a happy, caring and stimulating environment, where each child will be encouraged to reach their true potential and experience success in their learning and development.

We aim to establish a community wherein staff, pupils, parents, Board of Governors and the wider community enjoy a sense of belonging and have an important part to play.  The school is a partnership where everyone feels valued and works together, promoting a supportive environment for all.

 Our Core Values

At the core of everything we do are our school values of: Respect, Christ-centred, Learning and Community.

Aims of Our School

  • To promote a Catholic ethos with an emphasis on the core Gospel values of faith, hope and love. Their growth in faith will be nourished by prayer, liturgy and sacraments.
  • To create the opportunity for each child to reach their full potential: spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically in a safe and caring environment.
  • To promote positive behaviour within the school through a happy and caring environment based on respect, tolerance, co-operation and self-discipline and where all children are valued as equals.
  • To provide a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum which enables every child to fulfil their potential and to be proud of their learning and achievements. Children are nurtured to ensure they become independent, confident, resilient and enthusiastic learners for life.
  • To develop positive relationships between staff, parents, parish and the community to promote the life, work and values of the school.
  • To support the health and wellbeing of all children by fostering a positive lifestyle and creating an environment where every child can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.
